SCORE (Students of Color Opportunities in Research Enrichment) is academically based hand-on research class designed for students who are underrepresented in the Natural Sciences. This is a 1 credit, year-long course designed to teach students basic laboratory techniques, data analysis and presentation, and professional development. The primary goal of the program is to enable each student to gain confidence with a scientific skillset which will lead to undergraduate research and professional development opportunities. This program is primarily designed for first and second year students.
Within the first year of the program students will collectively conduct an undergraduate research project. Upon completion of this project students will gain invaluable research and professional development skills. Outstanding students will have the opportunity to conduct an independent scientific research project in a lab at the University of Oregon.
